Christian Unity | Theology Gals | Episode 34

On this episode of Theology Gals, Coleen and Ashley discuss Christian Unity.

Episode Resources:
Striving for Eternity Ministries

Some verses on unity:

I Corinthians 1:10 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all [a]agree and that there be no [b]divisions among you, but that you be [c]made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Ephesians 4:1-3

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Colossians 3:12-14

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;  bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

1 Peter 3:8

To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;

Philippians 2:1&2

Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any [a]affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete [b]by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose

From our episode with Pastor Brian Thomas:

How Christians from differing traditions can and should, discuss/debate our differences in a generous, kind, and honest fashion while recognizing we all belong to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church:

1 Be clear on both sides and major on the majors. Understand what it is we disagree about.
2 Be respectful and kind. Say what you mean, but you don’t have to say it mean. Be honest and don’t argue about something you know little about.
3 Read original sources
4 Be in it for the long haul
5 Remember the point of Theology debate is unity.
